Windows Mail Contacts

Several hundred e-mail addresses where collected from my XP Outlook files when I switched to this computer running Vista.  When I discovered none of my files folders came with the addresses, I decided to delete the majority of them and create groups for the
rest. 
I followed the instructions in the help files and got it all set up as best I could.  Mission accomplished, or so I thought.

When I use the contacts list from within an email I am sending, it brings up only the original list that was imported, including the hundreds I had deleted (as per instructions) and does not show the groups I created.

Why are these two links to the same files (contact list on the page toolbar and contact list on the outgoing email) not coincide, or sync? 

I've read other similar questions but none provided the answer I am seeking.

How do I get the contact list I have altered to be the contact list displayed from the outgoing email I am creating?

Can you help me get a better picture of what all took place?
On the machine that had/has Outlook, did you "Export" the Contacts into a CSV file then "Import" the Contacts into the Vista computer (Windows Mail)?

I tested this on my computer, and it worked just fine.  I am just curious if you're doing it the same way as I am :)

Here are the steps I took - are these the same steps you did?

OLD COMPUTER
1.
Open Microsoft Outlook
2.
Click "File"
3.
Click "Import and Export"
4.
Select "Export to a File", click "next"
5.
Select "Comma Separated Values(Windows), click "next"
6.
Select "Contacts", click "next"
7.
Type in where you want to save the file.
Click "next"
8.
Click "Finish"

On VISTA Computer
1.
Open "Microsoft Mail"
2.
Click "File"
3.
Click "Import", select "Windows Contacts"
4.
Select "CSV Comma Separated Values", click "Import"
5.
Type in where file is located.

6.
Click "Next"
7.
Click "Finish"

Tweak IE Options

• Open Internet Explorer.
• Go to "Tools > Internet Options > Advanced Tab".
• Uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions".
• Click "Apply".
  
• Reboot your computer.
