Strange Remote Desktop Behavior with Windows 7 x64 Ultimate and Windows Server 2008 R2
Interesting scenario:
Recently upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 x64 Ultimate on my work computer. I've been using Windows 7 x64 Ultimate on my personal systems since RTM and I can't believe I haven't come across this before. When connecting to a Windows Server 2008 R2
system via RDP I am unable to copy files to or from the remote system. I have confirmed that the copy/paste functionality is enabled on the session, but this doesn't change that I can't copy/plaste to the remote server. What makes this even stranger is that
if I restart my system I can copy/paste to a 2008 R2 system one time but thereafter I get a RPC call failed when I try to copy. I've also found that I can copy/paste to a Windows Server 2003 R2 system at will even after I am unable to copy to the Windows
Server 2008 R2 systems.
Troubleshooting done so far:
1.
Confirmed Copy/Paste and Clipboard access is enabled in the RDP session
2.
Created a mapped drive to the local system from the remote system, no change in behavior
3.
Rebooted local system only to find copy/paste to remote Server 2008 R2 system works but only for the first 2008 R2 system connected to.
4.
Confirmed copy/paste works to any Windows Server 2003 system even if it doesn't work with Windows Server 2008 R2.
As this issue is global across all of the Windows Server 2008 R2 systems in our environment I'm suspecting this is something to do with my Windows 7 system.
