I'm not sure if this is a software problem or a hardware problem but this is what happens: i'm using a lenovo y550, and everytime i'm surfing the net or even just typing a document in MS Word, the up and down directional keys usually never work (for scrolling
up/down the page/document).
When they work, it is quite rare, and it usually works only once or twice.

Did Win7 come preinstalled on your laptop or did you install it yourself? If you installed Win7 yourself, either clean or as an upgrade, did you remember to install all the Win7 drivers and utilities for your laptop? If not, that's your next step.

them from Lenovo's website.
If Win7 came preinstalled then this is probably a hardware issue.
Contact Lenovo tech support for repair/replacement.
