Okay,
This problem completely boggled me.
So last night my girlfriend turns off the laptop and we go to sleep.
This morning, when she tried to turn it on, it goes through BIOS and hangs somewhere between POST and Windows.
The cursor is blinking in the upper left
corner but sits there and does nothing.
I was able to get into the BIOS setup and boot menu but not the bootloader with F8. I got a Recovery disk from another WIndows 7 installation and tried Startup Repair with no sucess.
I then decided to try CHKDSK and
see if there was a problem with the disk being corrupt.
CHKDSK came back no errors.
Did some research online and decided to see what Bootrec.exe would tell me.
As soon as I did the /ScanOs option, there were no installations found.
When you enter the Recovery
Enviroment, you have to choose an installation so I am confused at this point.
Tried /FixBoot and it said there wasn't an accessable filesystem.
There wasn't anything out of the ordinary between last night and this morning.
Is this a hardware problem or an
OS issue?
