Are these IE Issues or something else? - Problems sending and receiving email through webmail

Here are the problems I am having since installing Windows 7 and uninstalling/reinstalling IE 7; are they IE problems or something else?
1.
When I uninstalled IE 7 the hyperlinks in Office 2003 wouldn't work.
DELL's tech service ($140 and 5 hours work) reinstalled IE 7 (32 bit) and now my hyperlinks in Office 2003 do work.
However:
2.
I cannot send email to my wife (different computers, same house).
I am using Windows Live.com email.
She is using Yahoo.com email.
I send her email and she doesn't get it.
When I use gmail.com she receives my email fine.
But never when I use live.com.
3.
When I signed up at the website zencast.com I never received a verification email.
I tried using 3 different emails and none worked.
4.
IE 8 keeps coming up with a message asking me to install it.
I don't want to because then my hyperlinks in Office 2003 won't work again.
IE 7 is 32 bit.
Office 2003 is 32 bit.
IE 8 is 64 bit.
My understanding is that Office 2003 uses IE 7 for it's hyperlinks.
Office 2007 and the upcoming 2010 does not - apparently.
So until I get Office 2007 or 2010 I have to keep only IE 7, not IE 8.
This is my understanding.
These are the weird problems I'm having since 1) installing Windows 7 and 2) uninstalling IE 7 and reinstalling it.
Weird.

If you don't have OL installed, why did you choose to install Outlook Connector and Office Live Add-in when you installed Windows Live Essentials?

You certainly don't need the MSN Optimized version of IE8 installed.
If you wanna get rid of it & get "vanilla" IE8 installed again, contact Dell Support.

You didn't have to install Google Toolbar in Internet Explorer when you installed Chrome.

NB: Run the FULL scan, not the QUICK scan!  You may need to download the MSRT on a non-infected machine, then transfer MRT.EXE to the infected machine and rename it to SCAN.EXE before running it.

If these procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA or Geek Squad) computer repair shop.

Commentary: If it were my computer, I'd have already shipped it back to Dell & demanded a full refund (or an equivalent replacement computer with Win7 preinstalled at no additional charge).
If I were tasked with fixing this computer, I'd do a clean install of Win7 in a heartbeat.

If you failed to fix it, another option is to call Microsoft and walk through the process with a technician. To do this, dial "1-800-936-5700". Explain the error that you received and the steps in the update process during which it was displayed. The technician will be able to walk through the steps from getting a new product key to finishing the installation.
