Autopopulate from one worksheet to another [Anwsered]

Autopopulate from one worksheet to another

I have a few worksheets within a workbook.  One worksheet has contact information and holds several cells with contact name, phone number, etc.   I want to be able to autopopulate this information in another worksheet.  For instance.  I have a drop down
menu on 'Last Name", when I choose a particular name I would like the cells in the other worksheet to autopopulate to the cells in the same worksheet where the drop down menu is, instead of having drop down menus for each criteria.  The cells are all different
for first name, phone ect.  Is this possible to do?

I am thinking I will do without the id #'s so I think that might be another issue.

Without the ID numbers, you would need an array formula that combines the
first and last columns to achieve a unique designation for each row.
This is probably not desirable as
array formulas eat up computer resources exponentially and you will be using then across at least seven columns and down for a number of rows.
It really depends upon how many rows of data you are trying to return.
The
helper column with a numerical ID solves this handily as a single column with a number for each row (i.e.
record) uniquely identifies that row.

Tweak IE Options
  • Open Internet Explorer.
  • Go to "Tools > Internet Options > Advanced Tab".
  • Uncheck "Enable third-party browser extensions".
  • Click "Apply".
  • Reboot your computer.
