Troubleshooter of Error: Autoplay not working when inserting the CD /DVD.

Autoplay not working when inserting the CD /DVD.

Original title:when i put in a blank cd or dvd nothing happens i can only burn disks using windows media player
When I put in a blank cd or dvd nothing happens.
I am no longer asked if i want to format the disk as data or a media file.
Basically i went into autoplay and said ask me everytime still doesnt work.
there are no restrictions on my system.
im the only user.
using media player i have no idea what its doing nothing matches up and dont know what its saying when it keeps telling me to add a blank cd.
can't add anything the disk either.
one song can be on it and thats it.
Once I get a music cd done i cant copy it
to another cd because im never asked to format disk.
I realise my inability to use media player is most likely lack of knowledge but this problem also means i can't copy data files to a disk either

the dvd drives do read disks with information on them

when i go to help it keeps telling me to use autoplay, be real nice except it doesnt come up
