Apps are very slow to activate and get "not responding"

MS Applications, Google mail and desktop apps are very slow to activate and MS office is constantly displaying (Not Responding) then finally activate.
Any thoughts or help?
 
I have windows 7, plenty of RAM, and have run the performance programs to determine if there are any fixes that are needed.
Still very slow to repond.

Boot in Safe Mode:

• Open Run command as previously described
• Type MSConfig
• Click on Boot tab
• Tick Safe boot in Boot option
• Select Network
• Click Apply and OK
• Reboot your system

Your system will boot in Safe mode with Networking. You may now try and open Windows Store and should not see any errors.
