How Can I Fix - Asus Eee netbook disconnects me from the internet every time it goes on standby.?

Asus Eee netbook disconnects me from the internet every time it goes on standby.

I just got an Asus Eee netbook with Windows Starter 7 installed.
Every time the laptop goes on standby or sleep, it disconnects from the internet and refuses to reconnect.
The only way I can get it to work is to shut off my home router and reset the system.
It's annoying and inconvenient.
Is there any way around this?
