Updating Heading Style numbers
Using System Win7 – msword 2007
We have content templates and a style template, we attach the style template to our content templates.
This is the situation : If my content document has been edited by many authors and the styles are messed up I go to the organizer open
the style template get the styles and copy them into my current document, however what this does is change my number back to 1, 1.1 1.1.1.
etc and the document needs to be something different (e.g level four should be.
2.6.5.1) in 2003 it is easy enough to
go to Format - Styles - Heading 1 - modify and update all the numbering to be what I need. I cannot figure this out in 2007 can anyone help me with this?

Copying numbered styles may be tricky in Word.
Have you tried resetting paragraph formatting, including numbering, by selecting text and pressing Ctrl+Q?
If that doesn't help, and if you are using the built-in "1, 1.1, 1.1.1,..." format with heading styles, you could just reapply it by clicking the "1 Heading 1 1.1 Heading 2 1.1.1 Heading 3" format at Home tab | Multilevel List.

- Go to the Start button.
- In the Search box, type "regedit" (without quotes) and press Enter.
- Look for the following registry key: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ SQMClient\Windows\DisabledSessions".
- On the right window pane, delete the subkey: "Machine Throttling".
- Reboot your computer.
